Whitecross Street will be host to a summer of street fun. 

From 24th July till 5th September the street will be transformed into an open-air art gallery.  The exhibition will offer visitors a chance to view work from highly respected urban artists such as Gavin Turk, Shephard Fairey and Paul Insect. 

To add to the fun, a street party will take place on the weekend of July 24th and 25th offering street art, street food and street entertainment.  There will be art demonstrations, art workshops, giant knitting and other crazy things for all ages to enjoy.  To make things even better, it is all free!

Islington Council is running it's thried Market Trader of the Year competition this year and nominations are open.

2009's winner was Whitecross Street's own Sunny Olives. Serpil owns the stall and has been trading at the market for over 2 years.  

 She says she wouldn't sell anything that she wouldn't eat herself - and all her salad is made fresh for each day.  The only additives are olive oil, lemon juice and a sprinkle of salt.  The queues at her stall each day says it all!
